Unfortunately, I do not have anything to report. I did check earlier today and I could still see movement in 2 out of the remaining 6, and 1 more that had obviously stopped. But, there has been no change in any of them trying to hatch. I will give them another day or so, and then call it quits. They are on day 22. Since I did have all the temp swings, I want to make sure and give them plenty of time, but I also know that after a couple of extra days, the chances of them hatching greatly decrease. I’d love to have at least a couple more hatch, but I don’t know that they are going to.
Farm Life
The First To Hatch
Here’s our first lil’ chick to hatch:
After a full day of taking his time, s/he finally “came out of his/her shell” right before 11 p.m. Welcome to the world, little one! Here’ hoping the other 6 hatch as well!
Let The Hatching Begin!!
It has begun! Today is day 21 and I am down to 7 eggs at this point. One egg had pipped early this morning and has now started to zip.
As you can see, this is a buff orpington egg. Actually, it’s the only buff egg left out of the original 18 that I set. The others are a mixture of blue/black/splash orpington eggs. I have no idea what colors they will actually be until they are born. I’m still hopeful that they will hatch, but I’m trying not to get too hopeful.
Keep watching for more updates!
