I’ve decided to join the world of blogging! I want to have a place to track our new life in our new home. I’ll start by giving you a little background.
My name is Steph and I’m a 32-year-old mother of 3 beautiful children. I’m also wife to my wonderful husband of almost 15 years, Brian, who is the love of my life and my best friend.
I first heard about Dave Ramsey about 5 years ago, started listening to his radio program, and got his book, The Total Money Makeover. We started digging our way out of debt, but still weren’t really on the same page. We did manage to get out of debt, but it wasn’t long before we were back in debt again. About that time, my husband and I finally got on the same page and started knocking out our debt again, but this time once and for all.
During this time, God worked a miracle and we were offered a second chance to buy the home that my husband grew up in! We were thrilled! The gentleman that was renting the home decided he could not afford to buy it as originally agreed to. We were so happy! So, in August of 2007, we started renovations! The unfortunate thing was that the gentleman who lived here did not take care of the house. But, God knew that and we had put back quite a bit of money to take care of that! God truely is awesome! We moved in here in September of 2007 and have never been happier. We do have a home that will be in some state of "renovation" for the next few years, but we’re okay with that. And since February 2008, we’ve been consumer debt free! WOW! We’re so happy to be debt free. We have no desire to go back into debt, and we plan to pay the mortgage off ASAP.
I wanted to start this blog to track our progress in remodeling, our little farm as we take it back over and try to become more and more self sufficient, and as I start really trying to stretch my frugality to its limits!! I’ve been learning frugality for the last 10 years, and I love it! But, I have to say that I’ve really strayed since moving. It was easier to "just do" than to take the time to do it as frugally as possible. Now it’s time for me to get both feet back on the frugal bandwagon insteady of hanging on and running along side.
I want to make the most of my 23.5 acre farm and am enjoying becoming more and more self sufficient. So far, we have 38 chickens and 1 acre garden plot. So, we’re on our way! This blog will be my way to journal our daily lives and how frugal I can be. But, all credit has to go to my Heavenly Father because, without Him, we wouldn’t be here today!
God Bless!
Steph
Welcome to the bloggy world!! I noticed that my “followers” ticker went up a number, and as usual I had to check and see who it was 🙂 I’m glad you stopped by! I am SOOO envious of your 23 acres!! What fun it must be to have your own farm! I’m looking forwards to reading more of your posts!
