Yep, some big changes are coming to our little homestead in the next few weeks, and I don’t just mean the fall weather that we’re having AND loving! Believe it or not, I actually love seasons, but I especially love the beginnings when all the changes are starting to take place. It always feels like a chance to start over again.
For me, spring brings the promise of renewing. All living things are bringing forth new life, from green leaves, to flowers, to grass, to new baby animals of all shapes and sizes. A time to start gardening and watching the little plants grow from seedling to producing their bounty. I feel like God is taking a deep cleansing breath and is refreshing everything with the fresh rains of spring as washes away the remnants of the long, cold winter months.
Summer is hot but the time to start bringing the harvests of fruits and early garden crops. A time to take a little time out to spend with your family and friends.
Fall is when God really likes to show off his unlimited rainbow of colors as the trees start changing colors and preparing for their long winter naps. It’s a time to finish bringing in the bounties of our garden. It’s also a time of Thanksgiving, a time to reflect and give thanks to God for the many blessings that He has poured out on you, your family, & your friends. Even if you’ve been through some rough patches, if you look back you will see that God was working through it and blessing you in the process. God never allows something to occur in your life without a reason for it. Most of the time, it is to draw you closer to Him.
Winter is a time to settle down with friends and family and take care of the little projects that you’ve let go throughout the year because you did not have time to deal with them. Now that the days are short and the nights are long, idle hands need something to do to keep trouble at bay. Of course, it’s also a great time to plan family movie/game nights at home. But, you especially want to remember Christmas, the time when we celebrate Christ’s birth and reason He chose to come to earth as a tiny baby, so that He could one day pay the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
I have so many blessing in my life. Even when things were a little tough this year, I could see God working through it. And right now is one of the blessings and answered prayers that we are seeing that is part of the big changes getting ready to occur for our household.
Brian, through a leap of faith, submitted an application to the new Volkswagon production plant that is coming to our area. He has now been working there for the last 3-1/2 weeks in maintenance! God is so good! This doesn’t mean that we’re not still in the middle of some tough times, but I know that God already knew that this was going to happen and has provided a way.
Oh, Steph, wonderful news and an answer to many prayers. I share your love of the changing seasons and this Fall has been spectacular here in Pennsylvania.
