Candy Cane Chains Scarf Pattern

I decided that I wanted to share my pattern for this scarf with you.  Please remember that I saw a version of this in a store and created this pattern from seeing it.  This is my version & I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did!

Materials needed:
Approximately 3.5 ounces of Red WW yarn
Approximately 3.5 ounces of White WW yarn
Hook size H/8 (5.00 mm)

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet

Red Chain (make 8):
Row 1: Ch 7; dc in 4th ch (counts as 1 dc) from hook and in next 3 ch (5 dc).Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next 4 dc (5 dc). Turn.
Row 3 – 14: Repeat row 2.
Row 15: Repeat row 2 once more; fasten off

White Chain (make 7): Repeat same pattern as for red chains.

Sew ends together, remembering to alternate colors and to slip each new ring into previous ring before sewing together to create the “chain” effect. Weave in all ends.

*I prefer to sew the red chain loops into their individual “chains” & then slip 2 red chains onto a white prior to sewing the white “chains” closed, but they can be done one at a time, alternating colors and slipping each “chain” into previous one. *

Make 2 tassels of 30 strands of yarn each and attach one to each end of the scarf.
