Menu Plan: 08/16 – 08/22

This week should prove interesting, to say the least.  Our annual fair takes place this week and my girls have their 4-H chickens to turn in.  Plus, Melia will be volunteering some of her time to help with the FFA petting zoo as well as taking care of some of our chickens that they will be using.  Melia’s birthday is also this Friday, so I’ll try and do something a little special for her, especially since we’re waiting a week to have her party.  So, I’m going to try and plan a simple menu, but I’m definitely playing it by ear.  I’m also still trying to eat out of the pantry as much as possible.

Breakfast:

Lunch:

Brian & the kids will have their choice of:
  • PB&J or bologna sandwiches
  • ham & cheese roll ups
  • pizza roll ups
  • pizza “mom-able”
  • assorted fresh fruits, pretzels, or carrot sticks for sides
  • for dessert: inside out cupcakes, Go-Gurt, choc. chip cookies, or peanut butter cookies
  • leftovers

For me, either leftovers or a sandwich

Dinner:

  • Sunday:  We had leftovers
  • Spaghetti with homemade alfredo sauce
  • Homemade chicken & dumplings
  • Crock Pot beef stew
  • TBD (to be determined)
  • leftovers x 2

It’s the first week of school for us!  I’m still having a hard time believe that our summer break is officially over.  But, it is so here we go into a new chapter of menu planning.  We’re still basically eating out of the pantry, but I did a big stock up on some items last week.  Making as much as I can from scratch for my family, I tend to run low of baking items quite often and I did not want to start the school year out by not having what I need on hand, but that stock up is another post.   Here’s our menu for the week:

Breakfast:

Lunch:

  • PB&J sandwiches
  • pizza roll ups
  • ham & cheese crescent roll ups
  • pizza “mom-able”
  • leftovers

All lunches have 2 sides and a dessert that can consist of fresh fruits/veggies, pretzels, cookies, inside-out cupcakes, and homemade pudding.

Dinner:

  • Sunday – small group cookout
  • Pork chops
  • Poor Man’s Soup in the Crock Pot (did not make last week)
  • Italian breaded chicken
  • Salmon patties
  • Dinner with my parents (?)
  • leftovers

It’s that time again! School starts back up for us this Friday! Wow! It’s hard to believe that our summer break has come and gone as quickly as it has. With school starting back up, this also means that our church’s AWANA program will be starting back up on Wednesdays. So, I’ll be making sure to either use my crock pot or plan something simple for those days. We’re still eating basically everything out of the freezer/pantry!

Breakfast:

Eggs, bacon, & toast/bacon
Crepes
Muffins
Fruit & yogurt
Amish Baked Oatmeal

Lunch:

Sandwiches
Leftovers

Dinner:

Sunday – small group pot luck
Grilled steaks or chicken
Stuffed manicotti shells
Pancakes, bacon, & eggs
Crock pot Poor Man’s Soup
Leftovers

Menu Plan Monday is being hosted over at The Happy Housewife this week. Don’t forget to check it out to see what everyone else is eating this week!
