Wonderful Deal on Scotch Thermal Laminator = Great Gift Idea

I know I haven’t posted much in the last weeks, but I came across this deal today & couldn’t resist sharing it with you all!

Today’s Gold Box Deal at Amazon is offering the Scotch Thermal Laminator for $16.99 – That’s 79% off the original price of $80.49!  Laminators are extremely handy to have around the house as well as to give as a gift!

Here are just a few reasons for you to have a laminator around the house or gift one as a gift:

  • To turn those precious heirloom recipe cards/pages into laminated keepsakes that will last for generations to come.
  • All those precious creations that your children make at school that you would like to keep – now you can!
  • If you homeschool, like we do, you can create your own practice sheets, flashcards, daily checklists, etc.
  • You could also create your own reusable chore lists, grocery lists, To-Do Lists, personal calendars, menus, etc.
  • Protect photos (if you’re not into scrapbooking)
  • Protect precious certificates that you may not have room to hang up but definitely don’t want to just store away without protection.
  • If you are a coach/assistant coach, protect those precious playbooks & line ups from being damaged by the elements & making them reusuable.
  • You could also protect your hunting/fishing license so that it lasts throughout the season.

These are just a few of the ways that you could use a laminator.  It is also just a few of the reasons that make a laminator worth having at home or worth giving one as a gift!  And, it qualifies for free Super Saver Shipping on orders of $25 or more, which they still guarantee will be delivered in time for Christmas for the next 6 days!

Materials needed:
Approximately 3.5 ounces of Red WW yarn
Approximately 3.5 ounces of White WW yarn
Hook size H/8 (5.00 mm)

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet

Red Chain (make 8):
Row 1: Ch 7; dc in 4th ch (counts as 1 dc) from hook and in next 3 ch (5 dc).Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next 4 dc (5 dc). Turn.
Row 3 – 14: Repeat row 2.
Row 15: Repeat row 2 once more; fasten off

White Chain (make 7): Repeat same pattern as for red chains.

Sew ends together, remembering to alternate colors and to slip each new ring into previous ring before sewing together to create the “chain” effect. Weave in all ends.

*I prefer to sew the red chain loops into their individual “chains” & then slip 2 red chains onto a white prior to sewing the white “chains” closed, but they can be done one at a time, alternating colors and slipping each “chain” into previous one. *

Make 2 tassels of 30 strands of yarn each and attach one to each end of the scarf.

Perfect Holiday Scarf

IMG_0139

While out shopping with my kids at a local craft store, I saw a similar scarf hanging in the yarn isle with a price tag of $42.99!!!  Eek!  After looking it over, I knew that I could make it myself for a whole lot cheaper!!  So that’s just what I did.  I did, however, make some modifications.  It’s slightly thinner, which makes it hang better & look better, and I extended in a bit more, which also makes it look better.  This is such a quick and easy project.  If anyone would like for me to whip one up for them, just let me know.  I’m asking $15 each.
