Menu Plan: 01/17 – 01/23

MPM5

It’s hard to believe that another week has come and gone.  Having a menu plan in place was so nice.  I can really tell a difference in the weeks that I have a menu plan in place and the weeks that I don’t.   The weeks without a menu plan are more chaotic and we’re more apt to stop and grab something quick either at the store or the drive-thru.  I can’t say that it takes care of all of the hectic times, but it does cut down on the stress of “what’s for dinner?”.

This week, I’m going to try to use what I already have.  No, that doesn’t mean that I won’t be going to the store, but I’m trying very hard to get back to planning my menu around what I have on hand already and not around the store sales.  This helps me to be even more flexible because my meals are already planned and I can then just focus on what’s for sale that I need in my pantry (not including fresh fruits & veggies, of course) and not what I need to complete my menu plan for the week.  Does that make sense?  LOL

So, here’s my menu plan for the week:

Breakfast:

Lunch:

  • Sandwiches
  • Leftovers

Dinner:

  • Homemade Taco Pizza
  • Crock Pot Pinto Beans with fried potatoes & cornbread
  • Chili
  • Spaghetti with garlic bread
  • Pork Chops (?)
  • Leftovers
  • ???

We’re supposed to get together with my parents this weekend so that’s why there’s question marks for one day.  Not sure what the plans are yet.  We’ll just play it by ear.

Menu Plan: 01/10 – 01/16/10

It’s not only a new week, but it’s definitely a Monday.  But, the good news is that I’m getting a chance to have a baking day and get a few breakfast foods made up to go in the freezer for the kids to grab in the mornings.  I’ve not gotten a chance to do this in a while and my poor freezer shows it.  But, I’ve also got to get a menu plan going again.  It’s really hurting the budget not having a plan in place.  The other key will be to keep everyone well so I don’t have to change it around! LOL

I’m also going to be planning lots of soups and stews over the next several weeks – (1) because we love soups and stews, especially in cold weather and (2) to help keep food costs down.  Soups and stews are a good way to stretch your food and your budget and keep costs down, plus you’re able to feed more people just by adding a few extra veggies (and sometimes just a tad more liquid).

Breakfast:

Lunch:

  • sandwiches
  • leftovers
  • fruit
  • pretzels

Dinner:

We should have leftovers 3 of those nights, so I may end up dropping the spaghetti.   We’ll see how the week goes!

Menu Plan: Dec. 13 – Dec. 19, 2009

 christmas

It’s definitely time for me to get back into menu planning.  We’ve had a bunch of “monkey wrenches thrown into the works” here lately, but it’s past time to try and get back to some sense of normalcy again.  So, here’s my menu for the week:

Breakfast:

Lunch:

  • Sandwiches
  • Leftovers

Dinner:

  • Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Poor Man’s Soup or Clam Chowder
  • Breakfast for dinner (biscuits, sausage, eggs, gravy)
  • Crock Pot Beef Stew
  • Leftovers

We should have enough leftovers from a few dinners to not have to worry about planning something for each day, which will be a blessing and help me continue to ease back into my daily routines.
